The Multifaceted Challenges Of Cold-Calling

The challenges of cold-calling are the main reason why telemarketing is poorly rated by critics. They believed that difficulty in keeping a conversation with sales prospects stymie the purpose of using the telephone as a marketing instrument. However, sales prospects are always not in the respond mood with any direct marketing tool used. Email for instance, how many mails have been discarded and never received a rejoinder? The same is true in direct mail, broadcast campaigns and other channels. It is natural for prospects not to converse with strangers. Who would not, by the way?
The above-mentioned obstacle is just one of the multifaceted challenges of cold-calling. Others are enumerated below.
* Getting past the gatekeepers. For obvious reasons, receptionists are the first to receive phone calls. There are times that these attendants are not so welcoming that reaching the decision makers can be a difficult task.
* Wrong time. Many phone calls are made at the wrong time and are automatically wasted opportunities. This decreases the productivity of campaigns as well as the agents’ performance.
* Rude prospects. There is nobody to blame why many prospects are boiling with anger when they receive a telemarketer’s call, especially when they are currently in a working status.
* Non-existent numbers. When contact lists are not updated, there is a possibility that telemarketers are calling ghost persons.
* Do Not Call Registry. There are phone numbers that are protected from unsolicited beeps. This is perhaps the toughest barricade in cold-calling.
All of these and more have been blocking the effectiveness of telemarketing in lead generation for Australian companies. However some Australian firms put their trust in telemarketing service providers. This is so because whatever challenges there may be, the outsourcers, like boy and girl scouts, are always ready to combat such demons. They have an arsenal of resources and practices that are specific to each cases, which make the qualification of sales leads possible.
