Leads are important in any business and the only way to accumulate them is through lead generation. Lead generation is the accumulation of leads. Leads are a list of potential clients that a business plans on marketing their services or products to gain their trust and loyalty, and ultimately do business with them. There are two different types of lead generation: they are sales leads and lead marketing. Sales leads are developed by generating leads on certain personal factors such as FICO scores, personal income, age and ethnicity, HHI, location, and so on. Leads like these are often sold to multiple businesses and advertisers. These leads are often followed up by a phone call because they contain prospective clients’ addresses and phone numbers.
Companies that use sales leads are involved in finance, insurance, or the mortgage business. Because almost everyone needs these types of services, these leads will almost always be random people, who have qualifying scores and the financial marks that meet the necessary requirements for potential loans. From this information they will come up with an opt in list. Marketing leads are a little different from sales leads. They can also be called MLM leads and involve a more direct marketing approach. Marketing leads tend to be more brand specific and will generally have a unique offering.
These leads will only be sold once. This type of lead takes a little more research and businesses need to identify a prospects interests and what kinds of products and services they are looking for. Which list is best for you is going to depend on what you are offering; the list marketing department will be responsible for you getting the correct list. List marketing is the people responsible for creating the leads for businesses.
Instead of phoning and sending out paper mail a lot businesses have taken to email and there are a lot of advantages and disadvantages of going this route. This works because companies will develop email lists full of addresses and decide which ones will be a part of their opt in email. Once the email goes out, it will reach a large amount of potential consumers and then they can decide on their own time whether they are interested in the products or services that are being offered. It will be the choice of the email recipient whether they want to opt in or opt out of the email.
It is also possible for companies to track how effective their emails are and how many people are responding to them. While all this sounds a great, there are a few disadvantages to using email as opposed to calling people directly or telemarketing. Sometimes internet users feel that unsolicited bulk email is spam and can be considered abuse on the net. Often a company will establish a double opt in and it is a method for requiring a potential clients to manually confirm the request of the information they are receiving and there is no recourse for unwanted emails and alienating prospective consumers.
